If you are ready to get into the Christmas spirit head into Torrevieja city this weekend for the turning on of the Christmas lights.
Torrevieja wil be the first municipality in the Vega Baja to switch on the lights this Christmas, and the display promises to be better than ever.
This traditional Torrevieja Christmas event takes place in the Plaza de la Constitución at 18.30.
With an incredible 534 lights covering around 70 streets, squares, promenades and urbanisations, Torrevieja will be one of the best places in the Costa Blanca to be this Christmas.
Highlights include the main shopping street of Ramón Gallud which boasts a spectacular new animated light show, and the ornamental ball installation in the Plaza de Miguel Hernández next to the Municipal Theatre.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception will once again look stunning as it will be decorated with around 150,000 warm white LED micro bulbs. And, after a few years of absence, the façade of the Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de La Mata will be illuminated once more, with a new and modern design.
Of course, Christmas would not be Christmas without a Christmas tree, and Torrevieja will not disappoint with three huge conifers.
A 20-metre high Christmas tree will be installed on the Paseo Marítimo de Juan Aparicio and three other 15 metre Christmas trees will decorate other parts of the city.
So, whether it is your first Christmas on the Costa Blanca, or you enjoy the fesitivities every year, there is no better way to kick off the 2024 Christmas events calender in the Costa Blanca region than to see the switching on of the lights in Torrevieja.
