What’s on Christmas 2024, Costa Blanca, Torrevieja and Altea – The Nutcracker ballet

The ultimate Christmas ballet, the Nutcracker, is being performed by two companies on the Costa Blanca this Christmas season.

This famous and enchanting Christmas ballet starts when the clock strikes twelve on Twelth Night and little Clara is gifted a strange nutcracker by her uncle. As Clara falls asleep a fantasy adventure unfolds and Clara battles mischevious mice and embarks on a beautiful journey through a winter storm to reach the World of Sweets.

Once there, she is met by dancing foods, drinks and sweets from different cultures:Spanish chocolate, Chinese tea, Arabian coffee, French marzipan, Russian mint sticks and Catalan wafers. 

Set to the incredible music of Tchaikovsky, the Nutcracker questions stereotypes and cultural differences.

This beautiful ballet makes for a perfect Christmas outing for the whole family.

You can see the world famous Kiev Ballet perform this charming seasonal tale in Altea on December 30. Or, watch the wonderful Barcelona Ballet interpret the story in Torrevieja on December 19.
